Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Spring and fall migrations overlap today
The male Scarlet Tanager yesterday at Point Loma and the Red-eyed Vireo at Carlsbad the past 2 days-- both late-spring vagrants--were both were missed this morning so may well be gone. Still this morning, the 18th, a late-lingering spring migrant Western Wood- Pewee at Fort Rosecrans Cemetery. But simultaneous with all this today are the first several alternate- plumaged "fall" arrival Willets and an increase in the number of Long billed Curlews from what over-summered, also right on time for returning southbound migrants.
The very late lingering Tricolored Heron continues today at the San Diego River mouth, and as of late when near low tide it seems to prefer being right up next to the Sunset Cliffs Boulevard bridge.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
