Subject: Hanover BBS
I conducted the Hanover BBS route in northern Marshall Co. on the 7th of June. This route consists of a mixture of hayfields, pastures, and stream forest, but with a predominance of cultivated fields. The land is relatively flat to gently rolling.

It was a cloudy cool day between 60 and 65 degrees with a 40 minute rain delay. Despite the rain delay and cool weather, I managed to tally a pretty typical array of species. The most surprising miss was Carolina Wren, but also missed Downy Woodpecker, Rose-Breasted Grosbeak, and Eastern Towhee despite stops where I can usually count on one or two. Shrike and Purple Martin are usually hit or miss, but missed this time around as well. I was surprised by a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, and managed to get one Yellow Warbler, which I haven't seen in a couple of years.

I tallied 61 species and 773 individuals. Most prevalent species were (in descending order) Dickcissel, Mourning Dove, Cowbird, Bobwhite, Robin. I registered 14 species at only one stop.
