Subject: [ia-bird] Mississippi Kites @ Algona
Out plucking some yard weeds after supper this evening, I noted two
Mississippi Kites swirling around together just above the treetops of my
neighborhood, heading northwards. I didn't get a good ageing-type look
at them without binocs before they disappeared, but it was easily my
most surprising bird encounter of the year so far.

Given the notable lack of flying insects in my area this year, I wonder
if similar conditions elsewhere forced this wandering pair my way.
