Subject: Location No. 5 for Painted Bunting

Hot on the trail of painted buntings, Piming and Judy Kuo and my wife and I
scored our fifth successful outing on our 2025 Painted Bunting Discovery
Tour. The place was the South Bluestem Parkway just east of the Cedar Creek
Parkway in Olathe (38.9295887, -94.8792785). On 6/4/2025, the South
Bluestem Parkway also yielded a painted bunting. However, that sighting
took place some 970 feet away. It was a female/immature male that day.
Today, 6/12/2025, Piming and Judy Kuo believe they spotted two male birds.
I am comfortable in claiming just one individual. His blue, green and
orange colors glowed in the fading sun.
