A visit to Jacumba on 11 June produced 7 adult Harris's Hawks, tying the recent high count. We also found a dead nestling lying on the ground under this year's known nest tree. It had been dead for a few days. Don't know if there is still another, extant, live youngster or not, as it is impossible to see up into the nest. This is approximately the fifth year with nesting Harris's Hawks at Jacumba since 2011. The only late landbird migrant we had was a single Western Tanager. Unseasonal--for the site--were a Black-crowned Night Heron and Cliff Swallow, given that neither species nests in that area.
