- Comments: "Continuing second year bird found in the same branch and in same sycamore tree and branch as yesterday. Today I noted that the primaries only extend a little beyond the tertials, not the secondaries as stated yesterday and I could more clearly see the blue color of the eye because the sun was out today. Also, it appears that feather replacement is ongoing in the lesser and median coverts, but not the greater coverts."

- Comments: "While the bird was perched across the small creek near the top of a sycamore I could see the tail being longer than on a Double-crested. Overall size seemed smaller, though no other similar birds were nearby. Photos show pale (whitish) line below orange base of bill at gape; orange basal third of both upper and lower mandible that showed paler, less colorful outer part; new primaries (with one, p-10, still half grown) and secondaries and very worn tail feathers. After we had watched the bird for several minutes it jumped/flew a couple feet higher in the tree, where it preened for several minutes. Eventually it flew toward the ocean and out of sight."

- Comments: "Exciting find by Tom Edell earlier the same morning, this bird was observed perched in bare branches of a Sycamore tree on north side of Morro Creek a little more than 100 yards upstream from the creek mouth pedestrian bridge. The head of this immature bird was dark brown including back of neck. The lower bill mandible was lighter yellow to the front, terminating in darker yellow at the rear of a sharply angled gular patch (differentiated from rounded gular patch of Double-crested Cormorant) with a faint white border. The upper mandible appeared mostly pale and the yellow on the gular patch did not extend to the lores. The throat was slightly lighter tone of brown than back of neck and breast was notable with dark brown and white mottling. The longer tail was dark brown and appeared very worn and the feet and legs were dark black."

- Comments: "seen and documented by over 20 birders thus far; Tom has been anticipating this bird's appearance for some time now and today was the day. I got 4-5 long looks through Tom's scope and noticed a cormorant slightly bigger than an AMCR 4' away with a long, ragged tail, a yellow gular with a white border, a yellowish bill with some two-toned darker upper bill hues, pale throat with mottled breast against much darker brown breast/abdomen and wings; bird was less glossy and lacked filoplumes indicating it was not an adult; Tom thinks 2nd year bird. some great pics were taken by many others to document this historic sighting. i had just finished paddling about 20 min away when I got word and didn't have my camera."

- Comments: "Smallish cormorant perching on a bare branch of a sycamore was initially found by Tom Edell. Very poor lighting, fog and clouds still allowed the view of an interesting, medium brown, heavily mottled underparts cormorant. Bill was slender with yellow showing on base of the bill and chin and a faint white border. No yellow seen in the lores. All dark head and neck.
Back view revealed somewhat faded brown coloration overall, back feathers slightly rounded showing buffy, faded edges. Possibly remaining juvenile flight feathers faded and tail heavily worn and ragged.
The bird spent several minutes perched on the branch, occasionally preening and also showing some interest in a few nearby GREGs before finally flying north along the coast. Returning soon to circle the area, bathe at the creek mouth before returning to the tree. One final flight to sea before I left the area around 11:50. I soon was told that it had returned to the tree once again.
What I've come up with so far is probable second alternate based on dark neck and head, medium dark brown mottled body including upperbreast., retained juv. wing feathers with pale fringing.
."
