Subject: Re: [birders] Trumpeter Swans
I have no idea if the MDNR came and retrieved the male swan. They are
overworked and understaffed, but I hope they did pick him up and will do a
necropsy to determine the cause of death. I am more worried about bird flu
than the texting-motorists who come zooming into those stop signs.
So everyone knows, the last swan to die last year, the youngster my wife
swam out and rescued and I took to the bird center while it was still
alive, died from blunt force trauma, likely caused by an automobile strike.
The intersection is super dangerous. And dare I say this truth, a few of
those drivers who pass through it are those detestable people who will
deliberately run over a turtle or any other living creature if given the
chance.
