Hello,
Every year since the bird-a-thon days in the 90s we usually do a walk in
May around sunset in the Montague Plains to enjoy the calling
Whip-poor-wills. We also see woodcock displaying and occasionally hear owls
calling. We walk about the same route and this year we noticed less birds
calling overall. This is a bit anecdotal since we are there to enjoy them
and not necessarily to census the birds but we usually get a rough count.
We discussed the weather and perhaps there was some short stopping during
their migration north.
