An adult male American Redstart was present this morning, June 5, in the Catalina Cherry area of Point Loma Nazarene University. Yesterday, there was a male Black-and-white Warbler there, and what was presumably the same bird was still present today but had moved a bit to the south (fide K. McMillan).
There continue to be some strange, high numbers of a number of western landbird migrants still present late in the season. Some species still present well into the first week of June are not unusual, but the numbers of some of these, as well as a few additional species that should be through by now are what's surprising. Here are the totals that just I saw this morning in the Point Loma and Coronado areas:
Western Wood-Pewee 23 (high for the date)
Willow Flycatcher 6 (high for the coast)
Western Flycatcher 7
Warbling Vireo 2
Yellow Warbler 2
Townsend's Warbler 8 (high this late)
Hermit Warbler 3 (very unusual in June, the hit parade of late Hermits continues)
Wilson's Warbler 5
Western Tanager 1
