Nebraska birders,

On Sunday, June 01, I birded the trail at Dannebrog in Howard County. If
you ever get a chance to walk that trail, I highly recommend it. It
includes mature woods with a stream, two sewage ponds, and open shrubby
habitat. There are some beautiful old oak trees. My list includes forty
species and is on ebird. Highlights are Red-eyed Vireos, Great Crested
Flycatchers, Eastern Wood-Pewees, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, a Least
Flycatcher, Bell’s Vireos, an Orchard Oriole, Cedar Waxwings, and a
Black-capped Chickadee. I still don’t hear chickadees very often out here
in central Nebraska.

I started walking on the trail near the water tower just because it’s easy
to park the car there. The trail goes beside the cemetery, around the
sewage lagoons, into mature, thick woods and then around the north side of
town. There’s a short loop and a long one.
