Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] late western landbird migration, plus some vagrants
The numbers of western landbird migrants were mediocre during much of the latter half of May, following a very good first half of May. But numbers seem up again the past week. For example, today, June 4th, I had a very good total of 21 Western Wood-Pewees in the Point Loma & Coronado areas, along with still 3 scattered late Hermit Warblers on Point Loma, as well as more expected 2 Willow Flycatchers, 1 Townsend's Warbler, 1 migrant Black-headed Grosbeak, and several each Wilson's Warblers and Western Tanagers. The excellent overall spring migration for Olive-sided Flycatchers continued up through yesterday. (Very late Nashville Warbler made it to June 1 and Black-thr. Gray Warbler to June 2, both on Point Loma.)

Vagrants from the east have also improved the past week, with Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Ovenbird, Black-and-white Warbler, Tennessee Warbler, Summer Tanager, and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

Paul Lehman, San Diego

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
