Subject: [Ohio-birds] Morris Woods & Denison Wednesday morning
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with the foggy damp conditions this morning but I decided to switch things up and go to Morris woods first. Mosquitoes there have exploded so it was pretty miserable and I’ll have to drench myself with insect repellent if I make another trip. I didn’t spend much time there as there wasn’t a lot of activity plus the boardwalks were very slick. I heard a Bay-breasted but couldn’t spot it.

Denison, however, was fairly productive particularly by the two main ponds where they had done even more clearing this morning but fortunately, we’re taking a break by the time I arrived. A N Waterthrush was singing and I was finally able to get good looks at it near the pond edge. Late? Then I found a female Canada, although I also heard a Canada singing so if the females don’t sing, there must’ve been a male somewhere which I didn’t see. Then a male Wilson’s popped up, so it was pretty exciting for a short time. Picked a few other warblers incl Bay-breasted, heard only.

Also heard Willow FC which might be the first I’ve recorded there—have to check my records. Certainly not common at Denison whereas they breed at the nearby Land Lab. Several Cedar Waxwings were near the ponds. Heard a chat also.

Glad birding is still OK but weary of muddy trails & rain.
