Well, the bluebird saga at the house ebbs and flows. The first clutch didn’t materialize as I found the male dead in the nestbox- he was emaciated, so some long standing disease process caused his demise. For weeks there was nothing, and then, a breeding pair moved in (not sure same female) and now they are feeding chicks! And have our second catbird nest in a dense honeysuckle bush……we will see!
Have already seen two broadwing hawks, one of which was the coolest observation- followed it in line flying 4 feet over a cemetery for about 300 yards in line with my driving…pulled up in the top of a small spruce tree- effortless! A favorite tree of a pair of Mississippi kites has been cut down and hadn’t seen them yet….no other bare tree’s around………hmmmmmmm.
Went to Biloxi Mississippi for conference and had some time to video an osprey, least terns, Laughing gulls, Black skimmers, and sanderling, then caught some good video back home on some turkey (Very good), yellow cuckoo (ok), Northern rough-winged swallow (very good), white crowned sparrow (good), summer tanager (ok), spotted sandpiper (very good), immature red tail hawk (very good), sora rails (ok)…….some pretty cool birdies!- way behind Jackson county, but catching up :😊 good birding all!!
