Subject: [Ohio-birds] Rarity chasing and Clinton county
The Connecticut in Hamilton county was heard again this morning. I had to
Try! County bird. Success! Heard only. But I have seen many. I was thrilled
To hear it! And great to see friends and fellow birders! Rarities do that…..
We see each other!

Off to Clinton. The East fork riparian area. A gem of a spot. In the middle of
Nowhere! Cool! Preserved. 2/3 of it is Highland county. I was going to hit that
Also, but ran out of time. See above. Anyway, three new Clinton year birds -
Alder fly, and both cuckoos. I was thrilled to hear 2 BB cuckoos! All three were
County birds too! And all three are later migrants, so I am assuming migrants.
There’s nice wetlands areas there. But I couldn’t track down any marsh birds
Like marsh wren, Sora, bittern. Hmmm… maybe in June.

The YB will breed here. BB breeding? Not a clue. I will be back here over the summer
Odes! Love it! 145 for the year. 177 for life. Clinton.

I have no cellular there. Every now and then I would get one bar lte. And a message
Or two would come through. Upland sandpiper at VOA in Butler! That’s a state
Bird for me. And still is….. I tried late afternoon - dusk. No success. That bird
Can hide! They like weedy, tall grass areas. Hard to spot! Unless out on the edge.
Or perched on a post. Or flying. None of which occurred for me. Someday!

Good birding all. It’s check for ticks time. Since I did have 2 on me. Geee….. I was
On mowed paths! It’s going to be a bad year for ticks!
