If you are around the Redwood City-Menlo Park area, and would like to spend a few hours that day birding, I could really use a few decent birders. The summer bird count is perhaps more important than the CBC, as there's opportunity to note and track breeding bird trends. Plus, the weather is usually better than in December. Being near downtowns, you can easily find a nice cafe at which to relax afterwards with a cup of coffee and a good pastry. There is no obligation to be out for more than a couple of hours, depending on how big a patch you wish to count.
There are places such as Redwood Creek west of 101, Canada College, Flood Park, or part of San Francisquito Creek, with no one to count them yet. For a couple of these, I have a person who is familiar with the location but need a better birder, or one who can hear birds, to accompany them.
If you, or anyone you know, might be willing to help out, I'd love to hear from you or them.
Thank you very much.
