Weather: Variable cloudiness; 68-78 degrees; excellent visibility; winds very strong out of the west, 10-21 mph gusting to 35 mph
Raptor Observations: Two more Mississippi Kites! 3:25 and 3:50 pm clock time. The strong winds made for quick passing by of raptors. The first kite was seen only briefly through a spotting scope and was unaged. The second was seen for a few seconds and was an adult. Also, after much discussion, it was decided that there were two Mississippi Kites seen yesterday as it appeared that two observers were looking in different directions when the kites were being seen simultaneously. Yesterday's numbers and comments have been edited accordingly. More immature Broad-wings today and unexpectedly, 5 Sharp-shinned Hawks.
Non-raptor Observations: Canada Warbler; over 100 Chimney Swifts and approximately 400 swallows.
Site Description Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best winds are from the southwest.
