It has been an unusual spring migration at our feeders 1.5 miles south of Whitewood. Previous year May sightings absent so far this year are Baltimore/Bullock's Orioles, Gray Catbird, Lazuli Bunting, American Redstart, White-crowned and White-throated Sparrows, Yellow-rumped Warblers, and Evening Grosbeaks. We had a House Wren for two days but it has departed. Migrants at our feeders are limited to American Robin, Black-headed Grosbeaks, Mourning Doves, Spotted Towhees, Chipping/Lincoln Sparrow, Brown-headed Cowbirds, and for the last two days a male Indigo Bunting. All of the other birds at the feeders are holdover resident birds. The Dark-eyed Juncos have left for the higher hills. It is a different birding year.
