Subject: Bird Survey VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Hi all,

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Dr. Jennifer Mortensen and I (U of A-Fayetteville) are involved in a project at Hobbs State Park (Benton County) in collaboration with some other UA folks to see how different species are using an experimental patch of Ozark Chinquapin trees. Many of you may know this is a species that has declined drastically after the introduction of a fungus at the end of the 19th century.

Fungus-resistant varieties have been planted at Hobbs and there is a study to assess what pollinators and insectivorous birds visit the tree’s flowers while they are in bloom.

We are looking for volunteers to survey birds. Surveys will take place daily from approximately 5/19-6/2. This would get you access to a gated area at Hobbs that is REALLY cool and would require you to do a short, stationary survey of all the birds visiting the trees.

For each day, we will either fill a morning survey slot OR an evening survey slot and you can sign up for either!

This would be a quick 30 minute, stationary survey.

If you’re interested in volunteering for 1-2 mornings or evenings starting next week, please let me know and I will provide more details! Thanks!
