Weather: Variable cloudiness, with haze during the first few hours; 70-86 degrees; poor to fair visibility; winds brisk and from the west or southwest, 9-18 mph gusting to 29 mph.
Raptor Observations: First Mississippi Kite of the season! Unaged at the moment, but there are photos to examine. Immature Broad-wings today, first decent number of them thus far. Also a late Merlin.
Non-raptor Observations: 10 Little Blue Herons. The Eastern Kingbird nest over our heads was damaged by the winds from the front that came through last night. It's not clear if the pair will repair it. The pair of Orchard Orioles was tangling with a pair of House Finches that seemed interested in taking over their nest.
Site Description Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best winds are from the southwest.
