Michael and I are in Conway for the weekend, so, at the request of several members, we put a last-minute outing together for the Conway Bird Club. We started at the west entrance to Stone Prairie WMA on Collins Rd. There we found a PRAIRIE WARBLER, a male PAINTED BUNTING, several ORCHARD ORIOLES, and many of the other breeders for the area. Randy Robinson found a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER high in the treetops, which quickly disappeared into the lush foliage where it managed to stay well-hidden from all seven of us. The sun was up early and the temperature was quickly rising, so we decided to hop in our cars and finish the morning checking a few places at Camp Robinson WMA. Here we found many of the same species but also a lingering MAGNOLIA and CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, a SWAINSON'S THRUSH and a probable BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER. As we drove further, we found WARBLING and BELL'S VIREO, a LEAST FLYCATCHER and what appears to be a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER. We snapped photos of the latter and will review for confirmation.Any birder is welcome to join this group. We're informal and we share lots of photos on our Facebook page. We hope to have more Bird Walks in the near future and welcome anyone who would like to come along.
