Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 16:00:00 Total observation time: 8 hours
Official Counter: Andy Dickson
Observers:
Weather: A strong storm system passed west to east through the area predawn. Skies were clear over Lake Erie on arrival and within an hour skies were cloudless across the entire watch area. Initial winds at 1A were onshore while the private wind turbine near #2 showed opposing SSW winds coming down the escarpment. The convergence appeared to be approximately I90 and the few birds that moved in the morning followed that flight path. As southerly winds strengthened and moved to the west midday, the flight path moved up the escarpment to site #3 where the count ended.
Raptor Observations: Slow start to the day with most raptors coming through in the afternoon. RTs, BEs and half the BWs were sub-adult. Great looks at local RTs and BEs.
Non-raptor Observations: Blue Jays continued to push through early along the lake shore but not in the big numbers we saw a week ago.
Predictions: Showers around noon, SW winds. A modest flight before or after the showers is possible. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Andrew J.
