Subject: Yellow Rail
I was at the Schell Osage CA yesterday near a grassy, low area, that contained a few inches of semi-permanent water.
Merlin thought it heard a Yellow Rail.
I have zero experience with Rails, but the MDC "Enjoying Missouri's Birds" shows that this is the proper time of year--but observations are sparse.
Any thoughts?
