Kai-

It is definitely active. There are still lots of pines there. However, I'm
not sure how many pairs are there currently - when I took my Ornithology
class at the usual time of year we saw a few herons, some students found
eggshells, but didn't have nearly as much vocal activity as usual, or
coming and going. It's not clear to me if the herons arrived early and had
already settled in, or if they were late, or if there were many less than
usual. I haven't had a chance to check since.
