I was so excited to hear a Chuck Will’s Widow for the first time ever last night, and it was at our property!
We’ve lived here for nine years and never had one. My husband heard it the night before and said he hadn’t heard one in many years (he grew up in Mo but I’m a Colorado girl). And I’ve only heard a whippoorwill once on a canoe trip in MN.
What are the chances it will stay vs. just passing through?
I only had one calling at a time, but sometimes it was from a different location. Is that likely one bird?
Boone county, about 6 miles NW of Columbia.
