Subject: [CT Birds] Coastal Center
5/14 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 11am-1PM. high
tide-rising, overcast, light showers, 62F.
Busy again at the coastal center with class visits and other visitors.
About 14 Purple Martins flying around the gourds and the marsh, with
several inside gourds. Our ospreys are still incubating the eggs-female on
the nest and male on his perch, on the marsh and flying around.
On the marsh: 2 Mallards, 2 Mute swans, 2 Canada Geese, about 120 Brant,
1 Great Egret, 4 Yellow crowned night herons (3 adults & 1 juvenile) and on
a mudflat about 40 Black bellied plovers with about 25 Dunlin.
On the grounds & feeders: 10 House finches, 1 Song sparrow, 3 Red winged
blackbirds, 6 Mourning doves,
numerous House sparrows, 2 Carolina wrens, 2 Cardinals, 4 American Robins,
2 Common Grackles and 1 Starling.
