Weather: Clear skies with only a few afternoon clouds. Temps reached a high of 69F. Winds started out of the SW at 5-10mph but then shifted to the NE at 5-15mph. When the winds shifted around noon, we moved the count in to Frisbee Hill.
Raptor Observations: Clear blue skies made today a gorgeous day to be outside, however it made spotting hawks a bit more challenging. Despite the raptors flying high and blending in with the blue sky, we managed to see 353 birds! Turkey Vultures (157) and Broad-winged Hawks (143) made up the majority of the flight. We also saw 17 Bald Eagles, 9 Sharp-shinned Hawks, and 7 Northern Harriers. The excitement for the day came when a beautiful immature Golden Eagle flew directly over the platform!
Non-raptor Observations: Blue Jays continue to move in large numbers. Around 10 White-crowned Sparrows were feeding on the seed. Several Bobolinks were singing and feeding around the platform all morning. One Wild Turkey was seen at Frisbee Hill.
Predictions: Tomorrow will be cloudy in the morning, then off and on rain showers during the afternoon hours. High 69F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph. There is a chance some birds will move in the morning, but probably not many. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Maili Waters (<mailirwaters...>) Braddock Bay information may be found at: http://www.bbrr.org/
