We just left the West Swamp Overlook at the Inlet and much to my delight we had a lone Sandhill Crane fly directly over our heads at the boardwalk at exactly 7:20 pm., vocalizing with its characteristic bugle as it flew directly over us then touched down on the east side. When the group of 4 were seen earlier this Spring, I tried a few times to see them, but to no avail. I have had them at the Inlet this late in the season, so it may be getting ready to move on.
