Subject: [Ohio-birds] Clinton big year birding
I managed a couple hours before the rain hit! That dance pavilion area at
Cowan lake was productive. I mainly
Stayed in the open areas. Edges. I made
A couple forays into the woods. I used
The disc golf areas. Must be a tough
Course! Those frisbees will head down
The ravine if an overshoot! Anyway,
There’s migrants around. And breeders.
It’s a big area, so flocks have plenty of
Habitat! Caesar creek is the same way.
Four new Clinton birds - hooded warbler, blackpoll, broad winged hawk
And turkey! Finally….. heard one. Like
Peggy, I had a cerulean. Cape mays.
Etc. Not great numbers, but nice looks
At birds. I left Cowan to check on the
Sky ponds when the rain hit. And I was
Very disappointed. They are gone! I dont know if that means for the season or not. Will this rain refill them! So no
Shorebirds.

I picked up 9 was it species for the big
Year. Great egret, pewee, etc. A slow
Process. But there’s the fall for anything
I miss now.

No odes in this weather.

Gee - I hope Tues morning cooperates!

Good birding all
