The 2025 schedule of San Diego pelagic trips is available for viewing at sandiegopelagics.com. The website includes information on expected and hoped-for species on each trip, as well as other logistics and how to sign up for the trips through Seaforth Sportfishing (sdwhale.com). These 10-to-11-hour trips are sponsored by Buena Vista Audubon Society and are aboard the comfortable whale-watch boat "Legacy" out of Mission Bay. They are all good for seeing a variety of the regular West Coast pelagic species and, depending on the season, are reliable for a number of desired species including Scripps's Murrelet, Craveri's Murrrelet, Townsend's Storm-Petrel, Ashy Storm-Pertrel, and Least Storm-Petrel. Most trips see Cocos Booby, and an average of one or two trips annually see Laysan Albatross, Cook's Petrel, Manx Shearwater, Guadalupe Murrelet, Red-billed Tropicbird, South Polar Skua, and rare boobies (see website for information on best seasons for all of these). As in 2024, we are offering two weekends with back-to-back trips (optional), in early August and early September, for those who would like to maximize their time at sea in a single visit. The dates are as follows:
May 24 (only a small number of spaces remain)
June 7
July 19
August 9
August 10
August 23
September 6
September 7
September 27
October 11
Hope you'll join us on one or more trips.
