Hi SD Birders, Has anyone recently noticed a small, all-white duck-like bird hanging out with the Western/Clarks grebes in the ocean off Del Mar? It kind of looks like a long-necked call duck (domesticated), but had a shortish pink, not yellow bill--an albino of some sort? A LT Duck would have dark markings on the white, and an albino Harlequin Duck would be too much wishful thinking. I got a few phone digiscopes but the the birds were pretty far off, the beach super crowded, and and the fog soon blew in, obliterating my view of them as they drifted to the north.
eBird list with bad photos at https://ebird.org/checklist/S236397813 Let me know off list if you have seen this bird before, or if you have better pics, or other ideas about this bird. It is sticking pretty close to the flock of grebes, generally off the Penasquitos River mouth at Torrey Pines St. Park.
