I stopped by a small neighborhood park on Guadalupe Mines Road not
expecting much since they severely trimmed the oaks. Much to my surprise
I looked up into a tall oak and spotted a YELLOW BREASTED CHAT staring
down at me. It disappeared before I could untangle my eyeglasses string
from my hat string and get a photo. It looked huge with that big bright
yellow breast. I noted the dark head and white spectacles before I lost
it. I waited around a while, then left to bird nearby Guadalupe Creek. I
soon returned but the chat was still silent and not found. I believe the
nearby fountain is what attracted it to the neighborhood. see photo
The park is called Via Fortuna just past the entrance to Via Campagna.
It's not a suitable habitat for the chat, so I expect it will soon leave.
