Saturday was a great Day at the Iowa Raptor Project, at the McBride Nature Recreation Area near North Liberty. The weather was fantastic and nearly 300 people attended the 40th Anniversary Event. I narrated several raptor slide shows, and the McBride staff brought out many of the rehabilitated birds for the public to enjoy, including Screech Owl, Saw-whet Owl, and American Kestrel. Several educational tables and kids activities were busy, and I manned a table and sold nature books as well. This precious recreation area, situated between Lake McBride and Coralville Lake is in jeopardy of having the lease terminated by The University of Iowa. They have leased it from the Corps of Engineers for many decades. At a time when our diminishing outdoor nature resources are needed more than ever, now is not the time for this important natural area to be let go. Comments supportive of saving it can be sent to the U of I at <MNRA-feedback...> <mailto:<MNRA-feedback...> .

Looks to be a great study and collaborative. Just hope when the Maga gang sees 'Harkin Institute' they don't blow holes in the data. Lots of closed minded people out here and they are reluctant to let facts sway their prejudice.
FYI - This looks like a real step forward in focusing on Iowa's water issues. Iowa's 2nd highest caner rates are the key. To read the full article log into The Des Moines Register's site.
