I received this as a chapter leader for Audubon in Missouri. They are
looking for help with Painted bunting surveys. I thought folks in the
southern half of the state might be interested.

Hello Missouri chapter leaders,

Please see the request below from National Audubon’s community science
team. There is a need to fill in gaps in Painted Bunting knowledge in MO
through surveys as part of Climate Watch. Some of you may already
participate in this part of the collection of community science efforts at
Audubon and beyond. If not, sounds like a great way to get involved and
contribute in a meaningful way. They are really hoping for some new
participants and would like folks to join the webinar on 4/16. All the
information about the program, need, and webinar/volunteer signups is
below.

Cheers –

DJ

Dear DJ,

I'm reaching out about an important opportunity for Audubon chapters in
Missouri to contribute to Audubon's climate science efforts through the Climate
Watch community science program

*Priority Species Need Coverage in Missouri*

Recent analysis has identified significant survey coverage gaps for the
Painted Bunting in Missouri. Chapters in your area are ideally positioned
to help fill these gaps and strengthen our understanding of how climate
change is affecting this species. We hope you might encourage chapter
leaders in Missouri to share the opportunity to join our upcoming Climate
Watch for Beginners Webinar

*What Participants Will Learn:*

· How we're using millions of bird records to predict
species' responses to climate change

· Simple protocols for conducting meaningful bird
surveys in your area

· Ways to get involved as a Climate Watch volunteer or
coordinator

· What we are learning from the program so far

*How Audubon Chapters Can Help*

1. *Share webinar information* with membership through
newsletters, social media, and meetings.

2. *Identify potential survey locations in your area *using
Audubon's *Online Climate Watch Planning Tool

3. *Connect with a **local Coordinator
<https://www.audubon.org/climate-watch-coordinators>* to organize
additional training sessions for new volunteers

4. *Consider "adopting" unclaimed Climate Watch squares*
in priority areas within your region

*We hope to see Missouri chapter representatives at our upcoming webinar!*
Chapter partners can register above or email us (*<climatewatch...>

involvement.

Thank you for your leadership and commitment to birds and community
science.
