Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 14:00:00 Total observation time: 5 hours
Official Counter: Fred Harrington
Observers:
Visitors: none
Weather: Cold, below freezing with strong WNW winds during the count which started out with full clouds then turned to partly sunny.
Raptor Observations: Only a few migrants - 4 Turkey Vultures and 1 adult Bald Eagle moving on the migration route over the main drive of the cemetery. Local birds included 2 Bald Eagles, 1 adult and 1 ragged immature bird, a Northern Harrier hunting over the woods and a couple of Red-tailed Hawks and Turkey Vultures.
Non-raptor Observations: On the pond were 5 Mallards and 1 Wood Duck, and some Canada Goose. Very few birds out in the gusty winds, gulls, crows, blackbirds, robins and Killdeer. One Canada Goose appeared as the only helper today - it stood on the roof of the neighboring fire truck factory for a while and watched what was happening.
Predictions: Could be a better day - slightly warmer, lower winds from the WSW, and partly sunny. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Frederick Harrington (<harrinfe...>)
