Rainy weather equals good birds. During the last two days, I had a number of male and a few female Purple finches at the feeders. It was neat to have Purple and House finches on the tube feeder at the same time. No matter how vibrant the Housefinch, the difference in color is so obvious.
A Brown Thrasher is getting to be a regular on the suet attached to the walnut tree. Unlike the other birds who feed from the bottom, he perches on top of the basket, bending down to get the suet. Works for him.
I spotted a new bird at the suet. About the size of a Goldfinch but a deep gold. Beautiful! I managed to get a photo, confirming that it was a Pine Warbler. He's been here twice this morning. Definitely a lifer for me.
