We had our first male Hooded Oriole about 5 days ago. He was joined the next day by a female. We have now seen at least 3 males a 2 females.

We are still waiting. almost 2 weeks ago, we had a male on 2 consecutive days and nothing since. I think it was just passing through.

Is the Hooded/Bullock's Oriole population in the county normal for this time of the year? In my area, for the past 15 years the Orioles arrived much earlier, and there were many many more of them. I live just South of Iron Mountain. Normally there would be at least a dozen Orioles lined up at feeders vying for position. There would be females/immature types as well as males. This year it's just a few adult males. They show up once or twice a day for a few minutes. Almost all the Jelly is consumed by other birds, mostly House Finches.
Has anyone else noticed a later arrival, and a LOT fewer Orioles or is it just a local thing in my area.
