Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Oriole population this year
Is the Hooded/Bullock's Oriole population in the county normal for this
time of the year? In my area, for the past 15 years the Orioles arrived
much earlier, and there were many many more of them. I live just South of
Iron Mountain. Normally there would be at least a dozen Orioles lined up
at feeders vying for position. There would be females/immature types as
well as males. This year it's just a few adult males. They show up once
or twice a day for a few minutes. Almost all the Jelly is consumed by
other birds, mostly House Finches.

Has anyone else noticed a later arrival, and a LOT fewer Orioles or is it
just a local thing in my area.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
