The Edisto Nature Trail is now open after an extended period of closure. The last eBird checklist other than ours today was last November, the area had been gated off. It appears there was some downed tree clearing in there, and no repair to the boardwalks, so be very careful of the boardwalks, they are very spongy and some boards seem like they will collapse under too much weight. Immediately upon entering we had vireos, Broad-winged Hawk, Hooded and Swainson's Warbler, plenty of Prothonotary Warblers, and several other species of warbler, Hairy Woodpecker and Yellow-billed Cuckoo. This is one of the best spots for Kentucky Warbler. Pam and I only walked to the pond/river, we didn't take any of the other trails. This is a great spot for forested wetland species. This is located in Jacksonboro, SC on the Edisto River.
