Subject: [NHBirds] Re: another fox sparrow in Wilmot Flat
This does seem to be a good spring for Fox Sparrows. Two weekends ago I had
5 on my 10k Penacook Survey, and the number in my yard went up to three
this morning.
Some of this increase in sightings likely reflects the species' increasing
breeding populations in the northeast. 20 years ago they were almost
unheard of in the summer in northern NH, but are now reliable in the higher
elevations of the White Mountains and a little less prevalent father north.

You can check out the species at NH Audubon's "State of the Birds" resource
