Hello Coralee, There is an active, Red-Shouldered Hawk nest, in Geode State Park (Henry county). This is the 4th year, that I am aware of an active nest. An adult was present in the nest 4/5/2025, appearing to be bring nesting material. The nest is located in the campground area. The nest can be seen from camping spot #77, looking east. The GPS coordinates are N40.821211 W091.382141
There is a Motus receiver within the park currently. Sounds like a fun project. If you do a nesting capture, if possible, I would love to be present, as a bystander, how awesome! If there is any other information needed, please let me know.

Hello all,
I am a master's student at Iowa State studying Red-shouldered Hawks. As part of my research, we will be locating and capturing nesting Red-shouldered Hawks in Iowa this spring and summer to track them with GPS transmitters.
If you know of an *active territory or nest* in your area, I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide. GPS coordinates of nesting sites would be especially helpful.
We're hopeful this project will contribute to a better understanding of Red-shouldered Hawk habitat and conservation in Iowa.
Thank you for your help!
