Subject: [ia-bird] Glendale Merlins
As of the first week in April, I am still seeing one or two Merlins nightly
at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Both tonight (4/6) and last night
there were two in the same spots, one in the spruce with the forked top in
Block 20 and one in the largest Amur cork tree in the s.w. corner of Block
27 between about 7:35 and 8:00 p.m. (ss at 7:46). The last couple of
nights the one in Block 27 has been perching about 4 feet below the top of
the tree, making it easy to overlook in the tangle of branches. Tonight I
actually first noticed it from across the way in Block 20, because its
silhouette showed more clearly at that distance.
