All,
Yesterday (4/4) Sergey Pavlov spotted a Wood Stork flying in Santa Cruz County near Ano Nuevo State Park and later near Greyhound Rock. Today (4/5), Max Ferrero was able to refind the bird farther south as it soared over Wilder Ranch SP. The bird was later seen at/from Antonelli Pond in Santa Cruz by others before it flew north and vanished. As of now, I am not aware of any sightings after this, although anyone in Santa Cruz, Watsonville, and nearby areas may want to be on the lookout for this bird over the next few days. It likely will roost for the night (possibly in one of the lakes/lagoons in Santa Cruz, along the San Lorenzo River, or maybe in a lagoon along the northern Santa Cruz coast) before taking off and moving around in the late morning or afternoon tomorrow. Good luck to all who search for this bird, and congrats to Sergey on this great find and Max on the refind!
