Cannot speak to how unusual it is, but I have had a few at my feeder in Durham this week.

Up here in Coats, NC, I have several dozen white-throated sparrows all winter long. Mainly in the thicket surrounding my property.

Some come to the feeders also.

Is this unusual to have this many?

These birds were regular winter visitors since I started FeederWatch in 2006. Since the 2013-2014 count, I've only seen about one or two per season, usually in March. March 2018 was the last sighting and I dropped them from my count sheet for seven years. Then on 29 March I sighted a male feeding on white millet tossed on the ground by the Chipping sparrows! It made my day!
