Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 14:00:00 Total observation time: 5 hours
Official Counter: Fred Harrington
Observers: Joe Sullivan
Visitors: Joe Sullivan was a welcome pair of eyes as the migration covered all the visible sky.
Weather: Cool with light N winds and mostly sunny sky. Temps ranged from 6 to 10 C degrees.
Raptor Observations: The migration was observed from the main road near the east entrance to the cemetery. The numbers passing over the site increased across the morning with the midday period consisting of a number of small kettles of Turkey Vultures mixed sporadically with Ospreys, Red-tailed Hawks, Sharp-shinned Hawks, a Cooper's Hawk and a Merlin. Then at 1 pm a slight change in the wind shut down the flight visible from the site.
Non-raptor Observations: On the pond were a Mallard, a Common Merganser, 6 Lesser Scaup, a Horned Grebe, a Bufflehead and about 20 Canada Goose. A Pileated Woodpecker flew over the woods and a number of flickers were seen and heard.
Predictions: Gusty E to SE to S winds with lots of potential for rain. Better wind direction than today which could be helped by rain-free periods. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Frederick Harrington (<harrinfe...>)
