Winds dropped along with temperatures this morning. The Whipple Observatory gradually reappeared as the dust settled. Winds remained strong enough to dust the counters, topple an unoccupied chair and bring in a chilly air mass that kept us in the sixties.
Migration wise an Osprey moved through in the company of two Swainson’s Hawks. Other Swainson’s displayed interesting variations of dark and intermediate morphs. Turkey Vultures were limited to single digits.
Additional Gray Hawk territories were reoccupied, with new birds setting up shop to our west on the other side of the weedy field. Local Zonetails offered more entertainment with as many as three flying together over the park.
We left the park unsure whether winter or summer lay ahead.
