Subject: Swan Lake NWR, Golden Plovers and more, Chariton County
Once again, a large number of American Golden Plovers were on the refuge today. I observed over 1000 along with a good variety of other shorebirds in the pool just south of the North Entrance, Hundreds of White Pelicans, DC Cormorants, American Coots, and Ducks were also present on the refuge. Lots of Pied-billed Grebes too. In addition I saw a flock of Bonaparte's Gulls, a pair of Sandhill Cranes, and 100 Great-tailed Grackles. Brown Thrashers were singing from many locations.
