Observation start time: 13:30:00 Observation end time: 15:30:00 Total observation time: 2 hours
Official Counter: Bob Secatore
Observers: Andrea Cannizzo, John Cannizzo, Peter Duffy
Visitors: Mary Margret Halsey, Dick Hughes and John Raleigh.
Weather: While the forecast was for SSW and SW winds, from the start of the watch period we had a weak onshore breeze that increased slightly in velocity by the end of watch. Temps low to mid-40s (degrees Fahrenheit).
Raptor Observations: One migrant, a Merlin that passed directly over our platform, was our only recorded migrant. One or two NH were seen but failed to migrate. Two visitors reported seeing 5 AK and a Peregrine further south on the refuge.
Non-raptor Observations: Birds: 2 Mute Swans, 1 Great Egret, 3 Blue Jays. Our nesting House Finches continued construction on their nest.
Predictions: WNW and NW winds 8 to 14 mph with temps 48 to 56 deg Fahrenheit, so a good prospect for a decent flight if these conditions hold. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Robert Secatore (<rs8843829...>) Plum Island MA information may be found at: http://www.massbird.org/emhw
