Dan Bloch and myself led 17 bright-eyed birders of varying skill on an incredibly beautiful dry day at the Sunnyvale WPCP. There was a pretty high percentage of fairly new birders, one birder stated that he had been birding for 13 minutes! So every bird is a lifer for him! An 8 year old delightfully, repeatedly said "Oh! I see it!" And then went on to describe the bird she was seeing for the first time. Remember those times?? The Marsh Wrens are in full breeding, building nests and nests with chicks; Green Herons fly by here and there; but numbers of Yellow-rumped Warblers, signalling a change in the season, are not seen as much. An adult Golden Eagle, appearing to be on a mission, flew by without so much as a "Howdy." The breeding season is upon us. Great-tailed Grackles appeared in pairs; Anna's Hummingbirds were duking it out with other males, Common Yellowthroats witchity, witched from the reeds, Black-necked Stilts resting on the shore in pairs, and the Northern Mockingbird singing, singing at the top of his lungs! Dan, the other co-leader, keeps the eBird list on these trips and I greatly appreciate his effort. Here is the list for the day. https://ebird.org/checklist/S222558331 Save a bird.....plant a native plant, Vicki
