For anyone using ebird to track your sightings, I hope you will keep using the NC Bird Atlas Portal this year, the atlas' final year. If using the cellphone app, you'll have to take the steps below to make sure your data is still going to the Atlas project. It took me about 5 minutes to do this, even with frequent referring to the directions and not getting it right the first time. If you successfully set your phone to the atlas portal, the "Start Checklist" screen will now show a little icon for the atlas with the text "North Carolina Bird Atlas", so it should be easy to tell if its right. One note on the first item--I did have to update ebird app on my phone, and there was an extra step involved: I had to tap on the ebird app first, then it took me to a different screen where I could tap on "update". On my laptop, I did not have to change anything in order to continue entering ebird reports to the atlas. When birding in NC, it never hurts to use the atlas portal, even if you are not in a priority block, and even if you are not noting nesting behaviors. Let me know if I can help.
