Subject: Proposed name changes erratum
The list of proposed bird name changes posted last night was missing one option:
Mexican Jay: Southwest American Jay or American Southwestern Jay.
The omission is thought to be a result of a subcommittee member's preferred option to deport all Mexican Jays as many sighted regularly near the border are undocumented and their vocalizations and behavior deviate from that of truly American jays.
Additionally, it should be noted that the committee is not yet considering dropping the last two syllables from Trumpeter Swan, but a focused, groundswell campaign could change that.
